Excessive flow of menstrual blood is known as Asrgdara or Pradara
(Menorrhagia).
Dirana +Asrk = Asrgdara. Dirana means excessive excretion and Asrk means menstrual blood hence, it is known as
Asrgdara. Pradirana on the other hand means excessive excretion of Raja (menstrual blood) hence, it is called as
Pradara.

Causes |
|
- Affects women who consume excessive salty, sour, heavy, katu (pungent), vidahi (producing burning sensation), unctuous substances, meat of fatty domestic, seafood, krshara (made of rice and pulses), payasa (rice cooked with milk and sweetened), curd, sukta (vinegar), mastu (curd water) and wine.
- Intake of incompatible diet and wine, eating before the previous meal is digested, indigestion, abortion, excessive coitus, riding, walking, grief, emaciation, weight lifting, trauma and sleeping during the day are the causes of Asrgdara.
- Increase in amount of blood.
- Complication of yoni-rogas (vaginal diseases).

Back, region of kidney and flanks.
Severe pain in uterus.
Feeling thirsty.

Asrgdara is classified under four groups which is as
follows
1.Vataj-Asrgdar.
2. Pittaj-Asrgdar.
3.Kaphaja-Asrgdar.

Diet |
|
- Cooled decoction of drugs of utpaladi group
- Meat-soup of wild birds or animals
- Cooked Sali or sastika rice
- Vegetable of tender leaves of patola, selu, sunisannaka yuthiku, vat and atimukha
- Fruits of sinduvara prepared with ghrta that is made from butter extracted from milk.
Ruksa (rough or absence of unctuousness), katu (pungent), sour, salty, alkaline, spicy, oily and heavy foods should be avoided.

Dwidosaja asrgdara |
|
In this type there is involvement of any of the two of the doshas out of the three, hence the clinical features are according to the respective
doshas.

Treatment |
|
- Hemostatic drugs should be used, giving due consideration to the association of
dosas.
- Use of basti(enema) is beneficial
Purgation cures menstrual disorders.
