Reiki,
a Japanese word pronounced ray-key, can be
translated to mean universal life force, or
universally guided energy. It is a very simple
system of healing, carried out by placing hands
on over a person (who is always clothed), or
animal or plant, with the intent to channel Reiki.
It can also be sent, as absent healing, over
distance and even through time. The word Rei means universal and `ki’
is the life force. It is known as prana in India.
It works beyond time, space and event. Reiki also
heals the surroundings & environment. Many
have experienced the Reiki energies as an aid
to their personal inner clearing &
transformational process.

Reiki,
thought to have been practiced for thousands of years, was rediscovered in the 19th century by Dr Mikao Usui of Japan. Dr Usui made his findings after
researching ancient Buddhist documents on the power
of
healing. Following these
revelations, Dr Usui then proceeded to share the secrets of Reiki with others. These secrets have
been passed down from master to student, and were introduced to the West during the 1960s and 1970s.
Now there are thousands of Reiki teachers and practitioners, as the message spreads that Reiki
can be practiced by anyone following attunements given by a master.
