After its application :
- The diseased portion becomes black- this is the sign of caustic burn.
- Then it should be neutralized by the substances of acidic group mixed with ghrta and honey.

Signs of proper Ksara treatment

When the caustic has been properly applied :
- the disease gets relieved,
- the patient feels comfortable and
- cessation of discharge occurs.

Signs of inadequate Ksara treatment

When the caustic application is inadequate
- features of pain,
- irritation,
- heaviness and
- aggravation of the disease occur.

Unsuitable sites for Ksara treatment
|
|
- vulnerable areas,
- vessels,
- ligaments,
- joints,
- cartilages,
- sutures,
- arteries,
- throat,
- umbilicus,
- nailed,
- penis,
- orifices,
- at the sites of thin musculature and
- the eyes except in the disease of the eyelids.
- In the weak, the children and the decrepit, etc. external application of caustic, however is indicated.
