(Pre-Operative measures),

Pradhana-Karma
(Operative procedures), and

Pascat-Karma
(Post-Operative care).

The following 8 main surgical procedures should be carried out as per the requirement of the surgical treatment of the disease. They are:
- Excision,
- incision,
- scraping,
- puncturing,
- probing,
- extraction,
- drainage and
- suturing.

Qualities of a surgeon

- Boldness,
- swiftness in action,
- sharpness of his instruments,
- no sweating or trembling of hands and
- confidence
are the praiseworthy qualities of a surgeon at the time of operation.
