Decline of Ayurvedic Surgery

Surgery (Shalya Tantra)
Surgey in Ayurveda is named as Shalya Tantra as it deals with the extraction of foreign bodies (shalyas). Different types of shalyas are :

Treatment for the same deals with the use of blunt and sharp instruments.

Shalyas are of two types
Those produced within the body (Endogenous) like
  • Teeth,
  • Hairs,
  • Nails, etc.
  • The vitiated forms of the tissues,
