Good qualities of Ksara
|

These are :
- Neither too
- strong,
- not too mild but
- white,
- thin,
- slimy,
- unspreading,
- soothing and
- quick acting;
these are the eight qualities attributed to ksara.

Bad qualities of Ksara
|
 |
The eight defects of ksara are :
- Too mild,
- too white,
- too hot,
- too sharp,
- too slimy,
- too spreading,
- too thick,
- incompletely processed and made up of drugs of lesser
potency

Application of Pratisaraniya caustics
|
 |
- The patients suffering from diseases curable by caustics should be seated in a calm, shaded and quiet place equipped with all the necessary materials
- Then is examined, rubbed, scraped and scratched
- The ksara is spread by a rod on the diseased part.
- Then one should wait for the time taken to count up to one hundred.
