The
mind has two parts: the conscious and the subconscious which is
the commonly accepted theory. We are aware of the conscious mind
because it is used in everyday decisions. But it is ruled by the
desires of the larger subconscious, as are all mental and
physical functions, from regulating blood pressure to storing
memories.
A subconscious desire is strong enough to triumph
over a conscious desire. As subconscious mind is a source of
human energy it believes in anything you tell. Hypnotism
exploits it by putting the conscious mind to sleep temporarily
reaching the subconscious where you can replace negative beliefs
with positive ones and introduce constructive emotions replacing
destructive. This reprogramming is suggested, which means that
the therapist suggests to you targets or beliefs aimed at
counteracting your problem.
A person then acts according to the new belief.
Hypnotherapists reach
the subconscious by inducing a trance in the subject which can
be light, medium or deep, depending on your needs and
suitability. Deep trances are rarely induced, partly because as
few as ten percent of people are believed to be susceptible to
them, and partly because they are often unnecessary.
