Function

Art therapies access the unconscious mind in a way, similar to how psycho-analysis uses the recalling of dreams. Emotional problems occur from painful experiences that are repressed, but survive as unconscious memories influencing our lives. By choosing a medium and through discussion with your therapist, it is possible to bring these past issues to the conscious level resolving them.

You paint, improvise some music, move or act a part, reflecting the happening in your unconscious. In each session the therapist aims to make you feel confident about exploring, experimenting and liberating your thoughts.  
 

Treatment

The art therapies benefit people with many psychological and emotional problems. People feel that it is not fulfilling their potential, since they are affected by anxiety or poor self-esteem with stress related problems.

Art therapy is valuable for people who feel threatened by close relationships as it provides space to express their feelings.

Music therapy is a traditional form of adolescent expressions, appropriate for hyperactive children, or people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

Drama therapy plays a role in teaching social skills such as assertiveness, improving relationships between couples, family or individuals within a group.

Dance movement therapy is effective with young children benefiting the mother/baby relationship if both are undergoing therapy together. Elder patients in the advanced stages of dementia are also reached through movement therapy.
