Bodywork
is a manipulative technique used for psycho-emotional
work. People practicing it, work on muscles or go deep
into the connective tissues to rebalance the body, mind
and emotions. Some of the major bodywork techniques are
as follows:-
|
Joseph
Heller, former US aerospace engineer developed it in the United
States in 1978 applying the principles learnt from engineering
to help the human body to prevent illness and improve vitality.
Heller
work
is a derivative of Rolfing and is aimed at realigning the body and
rebalancing the connection between the mind and body.
|
FUNCTION
|
|
Heller
work
believes that every movement of the body that is structurally
misaligned, is stressful to the body as it occurs due to bad postural
habits or in response to emotional stress. Physical and emotional
stress affect connective tissue that are holding together all the body
muscles and thickening to form ligaments and tendons .
The body is
unbalanced under stress which is balanced by re-aligning the body
and releasing the rigid physical, mental and emotional patterns that
cause misalignment.

TREATMENT
|
|
Heller
work
is about preventing disease rather than applying treatment. The
practitioner aims to keep mind and body in perfect balance,
to prevent any health problems from occurring. However, it helps with
all sorts of aches and pains, as well as neck ache, headaches and
back pain.
|
SAFE
|
|
Heller
work
is adapted to safely accommodate the needs of most of the people. It is not a treatment for disease,
although it compliments medical treatment in certain cases. It is not
suitable in some types of cancer where manipulation of the tissues, speed up the spread of the disease.
