Care during natural activities

  • The patient should carefully protect the wound while carrying on his own activates like
    • getting up, 
    • lying down 
    • changing sides, 
    • while moving 
    • speaking loudly,
       
  • A wounded person of a strong build should not indulge in 
    • standing, 
    • sitting 
    • moving about for long
    • day-sleep.
       
  • All these must be avoided because by excessive standing, sitting or lying down on the bed, pain in the body by vitiation of vata is produced.
     
  • There are sixty types of methods described for the treatment of wounds and ulcers, out of which eight are surgical methods. 
     
  • The important ones are:
    • local application of medicinal paste or medicated ghrtas or decoctions (Aalepa and Parisheka)
    • poultice (Upanaha);
    • blood letting, (Rakta Mokshana);
    • incision and drainage (Chelan and Visarga); 
    • scraping (Lekhan); 
    • probing (Eshan), 
    • Suturing (Seevan);
    • Dressing of the wound with medicinal decoctions,
    • cleansing the sinus by using herbal passories;
    • cauterization (Agnikarma); 
    • hyperpigmentation therapy (Kishnakarma);
    • hypopigmentation therapy (Pandukarma) 
    • therapy for hair removal (romashatan ),
    • therapy for hair growth (Roma Santana);
    • bandaging (Bandha) and surgical intervention.   
There are sixty procedures for the management of ulcerative (any other) lesions.
