Pre-operative Arrangement
  • Collect alcohol, milk, water, vinegar and earthenware powder.
  • The hair, of the patient, either female or male, should be tied. 
  • Patient should be fed with a light diet.
  • Patient should be held properly by reliable assistants. 
Operative Technique
  • Take a leaf of the size of the lip and place it on the cheek.
  • A flap should be raised of the same size from the side of the cheek maintaining its continuity.
  • After making the nose and lip raw, approximate the front part of the lip.
  • The blood coming out should be examined and its normalcy or otherwise ascertained;
  • When it is vitiated by vata, it should be washed with vinegar and lukewarm water;
  • When it is vitiated by pitta it should be washed with cold water and milk;
  • When it is vitiated by Kapha it should be washed with alcohol and lukewarm water.
  • After adequate haemostasis, suturing should be done.  
Post Operative Care after Surgery
  • The powder of red sandal wood madhuka rasanjana should be sprinkled on the lips.
  • It should be dressed properly with white cotton and should be soaked repeatedly with sesamum oil
  • Grhta should be administered to the patient after the previous meal has been properly digested.
  • A purgative should be prescribed.
