All individuals have mixed amounts of the three gunas (satva, rajas and
tamas), but one predominant guna determines an individual’s mental constitution as
satvika, rajasika or tamasika.

Characteristics of tamasik people
|

- Tamas denotes darkness.
- Tamas predominant mind is dull, lethargic mind.
- Persons influenced by this are fearful, dishonest, depressed, self destructive, addictive, have sexual perversions, servile attitude and suicidal thoughts.
- Tamasik types have more chronic diseases including cancer.
- Their energy and emotion tend to be stagnant.
- Their diseases tend to be deep seated, obstinate and difficult to treat.
- They do not seek proper treatment.
- They usually have poor hygiene.
- They accept their disease as fact.
- They do not take advantage of the methods that may cure them.
