All colour changes can be masked with make-up or special covering cream. Initially, all scars are red, pink or
purple and the colour fades over a year. In a scarred area the blood vessels
are noticeable.
The two important pigments deposited in the skin are iron and melanin and
it also make the skin dark. Sometimes scars become temporarily lumpy, during healing
but flatten later.

Causes |
|
- The most important way of losing
heat from the body to cool itself by evaporating is sweating from the skin.
- Post-inflammatory hyper
pigmentation is the phenomenon in which the skin diseases, especially eczema, provoke the colour cells
to over-produce pigments, which drop down into the dermis of the skin and leave brown
marks. They disappear when the skin disease is cured.
- Body can slowly remove this pigment and most darkening fades over
within a span of I to 2 years.
- The time is most important factor
in this treatment. The earlier it is done, it will
restrict the colour change.
- Colour cells of the face and brown patches appear specially around the eyes, on cheeks and on the upper
lip due to increased hormonal levels in the body during pregnancy.
- Similar brown patches can be
caused due to contraceptive pills.
- The brown patches last for many months but usually fade slowly.
- Avoid sunshine as it may darken the existing patches.
- Sun-blocking cream (as per consultation with your doctor)
must be used over the brown patches along with a sunshade or sun hat.
- Allergies to perfume may cause dark patches on the face and neck.
- These allergies may occur due to after- shaves, cosmetics
and creams in addition to perfume sprays.
- Before sunbathing one must wash off all
the perfumes.
