13. Lepa (External application)
  • Lepa is a semi-solid mixture of herbs, which is applied externally to the body.

14. Hridaya avaran (Protecting and stimulating the heart)
  • The heart is protected by administering ghee and honey or solution of Swarna Girika (red ochre) in water or fresh blood of goat or the juice of crow's mutton after boiling it.

15. Anjana (Application of medicine in the eyes)
  • Sometimes due to poison, eye sight is reduced. For this purpose, Anjana is used.
  • Devdaru (Deodar), TriKatu (group of three herbs i.e. dry ginger, black pepper and long pepper), Haldi (turmeric), Kaner (Indian oleander), fruit of Karanja (Indian beech) and seeds of Tulsi (holy basil) are mixed together and processed in goat's urine. This preparation destroys poison when applied.

16. Nasya (Nasal drops/Inhalers)
  • If there is obstruction in the ear, nose, throat, eyes and tongue, Nasya should be used.
  • To make Nasya, the seeds of Brihati (Solanum indicum), roots of Bijora lemon and Jyotishmati (staff tree) are powdered together.

  • By usage of medicinal smokes, the obstructed or closed micro-pores open up.
  • Also, the respiratory rate improves.
  • It nullifies the effect of poison after entering the body.

  • Due to the effect of poison, the mouth and throat become dry. Leh is used to suppress this.
  • The most commonly used Leh is the combination of honey and ghee.

23. Sangya-sthapana (Revival of consciousness)
  • To prevent the patient's condition from further aggravating, he has to be kept in conscious state.
  • For this purpose, the patient is given strong Nasya.
  • Anti-poisonous substances are applied to a big drum which is then beaten by sticks and the noise thus generated keeps the patient conscious.

  • This was an ancient therapy through which a dead man was revived.
  • Today this therapy is not found.
