Mythological origin of visha
We all are aware of the six-letter word, poison. But do you know, how it came into being? In Ayurveda, there is a mythological story behind the origin of poison or visha
  • A demon named Kaitabha pestered Lord Brahma in his work of creation of the living beings.

  • Lord Brahma grew very angry and his wrath came down in a violent form from his mouth.

  • Even after the destruction of the demon, that wonderful and terrific glow (or wrath which emanated in physical form) went on increasing surprisingly at the sight of which, all the Gods were deeply depressed.

  • The term visha (poison) is so called, as it filled the Gods with vishada (depressed in spirit).

  • Thereupon, Lord Brahma after having created all the living beings, casted the remaining wrath both into the inanimate and animate poisons.
