Proper evaluation of the proportion of different doshas while deciding on individuals Prakruti holds great importance as it gives several clues in understanding the pathology of hidden factors causing diseases and thereby helps in correcting the internal constitution with intake of proper diet or drugs.

Individuals who are dominated by a single dosha in their overall physical disposition tend to fall sick more often than those in whom the levels of all the three dosha are in balanced proportions. This is basically due to the abnormally high level of one particular factor and abnormally low levels of other, making one an easy prey to external influences.

Most of the times, one or two doshas are predominant and others are low. Based on the following profiles of physical and mental characteristics, a physician can judge the predominant dosha in the body (Prakruti) and decide the line of treatment.
