Daily regime for prevention of E.N.T. diseases |

In order to prevent the occurrence of urdhva jatrugatha roga i.e. diseases of eyes, ear, nose and throat, certain habits must be followed daily.

Dantadhavan (Brushing the teeth) |
|
According to Ayurveda, twigs of roots of vata, arka, khadira, karanja and apamarga, which possess astringent, bitter and pungent tastes must be used for brushing the teeth which are still used in tooth paste formulations.
Uses :
Removes the dirt, bad taste and the smell of tongue, mouth and teeth.

Jivhanirlekhan (Tongue scraping)

Tongue is cleaned by scrapping it with tongue scraper made of metals like gold or silver.
Uses :
- Removes dirt and all the food deposits accumulated over the tongue.
- Increases the freshness of the mouth and helps in eradicating the foul smell of the oral cavity.
- Enhances the sense of taste.
- Prevents the cracking of tongue and maintains its softness.
- Prevents the diseases of tongue, mouth and teeth.

Anjana (Collyrium)

Anjana is not only good for eyesight, but also removes the aggravated doshas and hence must be applied to the eyes daily.
Sauviranjana obtained from the sea salt is regarded as the best of
anjanas. Rasanjana should be used once a week.
Uses :
- Increases the beauty of the eyes.
- Improves vision, such that even minute objects can be seen clearly.
- Identification of all the colours becomes more defined and distinct.
- Eyelashes become smooth and firm.

Nasya (Nasal medication)

|
Medicated oil like Anu oil is used as nasal drops. Daily administration of these drops has multiple uses.
Uses :
- Shoulders, neck, face and chest become strong and firm.
- Skin becomes more soft and supple. It helps the skin to retain its elasticity.
- Increases the freshness of the mouth.
- Sense organs become clean and efficient.
- Skin becomes devoid of wrinkles, grey hair and black patches.

Gandusha (mouth wash)

The mouth should be kept filled with oils daily for minutes in the mornings.
Decoction of khadira, kshiri vrksas like pimpal, vata, umbar, and mustak are used for gandusha.
