Many
new
sophisticated instruments are available in the
market which include a few handy instruments
like-hand massager, wooden clips, rubber
bands, copper wire, aluminum combs and wooden
rollers with grooves along with costly
instruments like fancy wooden rollers,
sandals, mats etc. Actually these instruments
only activate the organs but not in
diagnosis of the disease.
Acupressure
is beneficial, but it should never be taken
as a substitute for medical consultation,
advice and supervision. Similarly, before or
while giving an acupressure treatment, there
are certain precautions to be kept
in mind.
|
Precautionary
Methods: |
|
-
Acupressure
should not be performed on people
suffering from diseases that could get
aggravated by use of external force. For
instance, people suffering from internal
bleeding, ulcers, duodenal ulcers, hemophilia, etc.
-
People
suffering from contagious diseases like
measles, whooping cough, malaria, etc.
or any other disorders involving organs
such as heart, liver, kidney, lung, or
cancer, sarcoma, infectious diseases,
broken bones etc. should not be treated.
-
While
performing acupressure on a person, it is
advisable to know the person's
background through consultation,
physical examination and other tests
and diagnosis.
-
One
should not stimulate relief points more than
required, just
for the sake of getting more relief, as
it may result in the production of
toxins which can make the body system
weak.
-
Acupressure
should be avoided by pregnant women
unless recommended by a physician.
-
Treatment
should not be given if the person is
feeling hungry or has had a big meal.
Usage of sharp objects should also be
avoided. The delicate area around the
eyes should be treated gently.
-
Alcoholic
drinks as well as sour and iced foods
should be avoided during and immediately
after the treatment.
