Dental Care
  • Daily care of your teeth is a must.
  • You can prevent food particles and bacteria from building up on the surface of your teeth and reduce the risk of tooth decay and gum disease by following simple routine of brushing and flossing,.
  • If you cannot clean your teeth between meals, chewing sugar-free gum may help.
  • Strictly avoid sugary foods and drinks, which contribute to tooth decay.
  • If water is deficient of fluoride, consult your dentist about usage of fluoride tablets or drops which help in strengthening of teeth.

Brushing
  • Teeth needs brushing at least twice a day for 5 minutes and if possible, after every meal.
  • Small -headed, soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste must be used.
  • All the surfaces of your teeth especially where they meet the gum must be cleaned thoroughly.
  • Compulsorily replace your toothbrush every 2-3 months.

Cleaning
  • To remove food particles and bacteria from areas between the teeth that cannot be reached easily with a toothbrush, dental floss or dental paste must be used.
  • Usage of toothpicks and small interdental brushes is also prescribed .
  • You should clean between each tooth in a regular pattern so that none of the teeth are missed.
  • Strictly avoid consuming foods and drinks that have a high sugar content, such as desserts and sodas, particularly if you cannot clean your teeth after eating sugary foods. Chew sugar-free gum instead.

Filling
  • Teeth are generally filled because of tooth decay.
  • White fillings are often used in front teeth and amalgam (a mixture of silver, tin, and mercury) in back teeth.
  • Local anesthesia may be used to make the tooth and gum numb.
  • When they are numb the decayed area of the tooth is drilled away and the hole is shaped to secure the filling.
  • The filling is then pushed into the tooth as a soft paste that will harden within a few hours

Root Canal Treatment
  • In case where decay invades the pulp upto the centre of the tooth and reaches the root root canal treatment is performed.
  • The pulp is removed along with the nerves and blood vessels, and an antiseptic solution is used to sterilize the cavity.
  • In case of infection within the tooth is severe, a temporary filling may be inserted for a few days before the cavity is sterilized again.
  • The root canals and the decayed area of the tooth are then filled.
