To disguise blemishes under eye-shadows, scars and red veins and to give your skin a perfect look, concealers are a fast and effective solution. They are a concentrated form of foundation with a very high pigment content and provide a complete coverage to the problem areas.

For a light make-up effect, apply the concealer directly onto clean skin, then apply powder or all-in-one foundation/powder over the top.

Stick Concealers

Stick concealers are easy to apply because you can simply stroke them straight onto the skin. They are also easily available in the market. Do try the try the samples in the shop before buying because quite a few types have heavy and thick consistency.

Cream Concealers

Cream concealers usually come in a tube form, with a sponge- tipped applicator. The coverage isn't as stick type, but the finished effect is very natural.

Liquid Concealers
  • Liquid concealers also come in a tube form

  • Squeezing a tiny amount of product onto your finger and smooth over the affected area.

  • Try the creams to powder formulations, which slick on like a cream and dry to a velvety powder finish.

Here's how to conceal all your beauty problems effectively.

Spots and blemishes
  • Use a medicated stick concealer as this contains ingredients to deal with the pimple or blemish and as well as cover them.

  • Concealer should be applied exactly on the pimple or blemish only, as it can be quite drying. Then smooth away the edges with a clean cotton swab.

  • Applying concealers all around the area will make the spot more noticeable and create a "halo" effect.

Under-eye shadows
  • Dry formulations may emphasize fine lines around your eyes thus opt for a creamy stick concealer or a liquid one.
  • Use your ring finger to blend because they are the weakest finger on your hand and less likely to drag at the delicate skin around your eyes.

Scars
  • Concealers can effectively cover scars of old acne, chickenpox marks etc although the perfect result can require more time.
  • Build the indentation up to skin level by dotting on layers of concealers with a fine brush. Take your time, to allow each layer to settle into the skin properly.
Red veins
  • For this problem, stick or liquid concealer is the ideal one.
  • Concealer should be applied over the area with a fine eyeliner brush or clean cotton swab and then edges should be feathered out to stop them from being noticeable.
