One of the most important things during pregnancy is to keep yourself physically and mentally fit and active. It is best to always stay in a happy mood as it helps in reducing difficulties and complications during labour. It is also observed that women who follow these simple rules generally deliver a normal child and their recovery after delivery is also fast. They also quickly retain their physical and mental state. 
 

Women who are prone to laziness and are inactive, face much more difficulties and complications during pregnancy and labour. 
 

In reference to this yoga and meditation can play an important role. It has been seen that those women who practice yoga and meditation during pregnancy incur less pain during labour and generally deliver a normal child.
 

Asanas keep the body fit and pranayam keeps the mental stature fit. Some of the asanas are mentioned by keeping in mind the female body structure. By practicing these asanas the pelvic parts and organs gets strengthened.
 

During the first trimester following asanas can be practised regularly: 

These asanas will help the pregnant women to maintain her physical as well as mental state. After the first trimester any of these asanas or exercise should not be practiced as they exert pressure on the abdomen. Asanas like

  • Pavanmuktasana

  • Yogamudra 

  • Savasana etc. can be practiced.

Women who are more prone to miscarriages should practice 

In veneral diseases and infertility Shirshasana is the most beneficial asana.

Some of the asanas can be practiced after delivery, to retain the original structure of the parts and organs, which were affected during pregnancy. This will also help in retaining their physical and mental health.
