- Meda (Fat tissues)
- Asthi (Bone)

- Shukra (Semen)
These seven dhatus are composed of five mahabhutas. These dhatus remain inside the human body in a proper equilibrium and any disturbance in their equilibrium causes disease.

Concept of Dhatu
|
 |
- The word 'Dhatu' is derived from the verb 'Dhru', which means to support.
- In Ayurveda, dhatu means to support and nourish.
- Dhatus are the basic nutritional and structural factors of the body.
- They promote the growth and support the mind.
- The cell is the structural unit of all the tissues except the rasa (lymph).
- The life starts as single cell, fertilized ovum, which contains representatives of all tissues, doshas and
malas.
- Tissues grow by multiplication of cells and corresponding increase in interstitial tissues.
- Tissues constitute the basic structural units of the body.
- Organs are composed of highly specialized cells e.g. liver, lungs, pancreas, etc.
- Vata, pitta and kapha molecules constitute the structural as well as functional units of all the cells as well as the body.
- Rasa, the primary tissue, is derived from food and is composed of vata, pitta and kapha molecules. It supplies nourishment to all the tissues. It does not contain cells.
